St. John's Catholic Church was built in 1885 in Parnell Township, southwest of Collis, MN. When parishes began in Dumont and Wheaton, St. John's started to loose their parishioners and in 1906 they held their last Mass.
Many of the parishioners who were buried in the cemetery were transferred to the Graceville cemetery.
In 1914 the Church property was sold to a local owner and over time the site was neglected and overrun with weeds.
In recent years members of Ave Maria Church in Wheaton
cleaned up the cemetery and had a sign made, so that everyone
would be able to remember the St. John's Church and Cemetery
that was one of the first in the area.
